Saint John Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Associations Heart-Check mark for Acute Stroke Ready Program Certification.

The Saint John Hospital Emergency Department underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review in April. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conduct onsite observations and interviews.

“Acute Stroke Ready Program Certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Deborah Ryan, MS RN, Interim Executive Vice President, accreditation and Certification Operations, The Joint Commission. “We commend Saint John Hospital for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structural management framework for stroke patients.”

“We congratulate Saint John Hospital for this outstanding achievement,” says Nancy Brown, Chief Executive Officer, the American Stroke Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for stroke patients.”
