Saint John Hospital has received the coveted CMS five-star rating; the hospital has received this designation the past five years.
The five-star rating is the highest possible rating (on a scale of one to five) — and reflects exceptional quality care being provided to patients by physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals at Saint John Hospital.
The overall star rating for the CMS rankings is determined by how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality — such as treating heart attacks and pneumonia, readmission rates, and safety of care.
“The star award is given based on metrics such as mortality, readmission, patient safety and patient experience,” Wes Hoyt, Saint John Chief Executive Officer. “Saint John was one of only 12 in the state of Kansas to receive the five-star recognition. This designation is a testament to the work of our employees and physicians who are dedicated in providing high quality healthcare.
“This rating demonstrates our hospital’s commitment to patient-centered excellence,” he added.
