Leavenworth, KS – Saint John Hospital is proud to announce that it has received Nuclear Medicine Accreditation from the American College of Radiology. Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material, ingested by the patient, to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, and certain other abnormalities within the body.
The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards, following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported back to the facility, providing the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
With this accreditation, patients at Saint John Hospital can expect significant improvements in their care experience, including:
- Increased Diagnostic Precision: The certified equipment provides high-resolution nuclear imaging, enabling our clinicians to make better-informed decisions regarding patient treatment plans.
- Faster Imaging and Results: Patients will benefit from reduced waiting times for both the imaging process and results, allowing for quicker interventions when necessary.
- Enhanced Care Coordination: Referring physicians will receive timely and comprehensive reports, improving communication between specialists and primary care providers for optimal patient management.
- Assured Quality and Safety: This accreditation confirms that our nuclear cardiology services meet rigorous national standards, safeguarding patient care and safety.
