Imaging Services

Radiology is the study of images of the human body. The tools of radiology – computerized digital X-ray, computerized axial tomography (CT) scanners and ultrasound – allow doctors to look inside your body.

Radiologists can take both two- and three-dimensional pictures using state of the art technology to create moving pictures of your organs at work and reveal tissue deep within your body. Some tests rely on radioactive substances, others on sound waves or the body’s natural magnetism.

To schedule your appointment please call: 913-667-5600.

Applications of Radiology

Radiology has many diagnostic and therapeutic uses. Doctors use radiologic technology to:

  • Diagnose diseases by producing images of the body
  • Treat cancer by helping prevent the spread of the disease or to shrink or destroy tumors

Whether your doctor recommends a diagnostic imaging test or therapeutic treatment, the Saint John Radiology department is available 24 hours a day to meet your individualized needs. Working with state-of-the-art equipment, our board-certified radiologists and registered technologists guide thousands of patients a year through every phase of their procedures.

What to Ask Before a Radiology Test:

  • What information can I find out from this test?
  • How do I prepare for the test?
  • What if I wear dentures or a hearing aid? Will that affect the test?
  • Are there any other foreign materials that would affect the test?
  • How long will the procedure take?
  • Who will perform the test?
  • Will I be given any medication or dyes prior to the test?
  • When and how do I find out my results?
